You may have seen something about audio or AAC audio formats being "compressed". That's talking about making the file size smaller so it can be more easily used on the web. The audio compression is not the same thing as "data compression", which could be achieved by using WinZip or WinRAR compressing software. For audio compression, different codec (the method to store audio information) has different compression ratio. Also different audio settings will affect the file size to some extent, for example, the bit rate, sample rate, channels, etc.

Step-by-step Guide to Compress Audio Files on Mac
Step 1. Add audio files to audio compressor
Open UniConverter for Mac when it has been installed in your computer. To import audio, just drag and drop it to the program. Alternatively, you can go to "File" > "Load Media Files" to achieve that.
Step 2. Choose different compression methods
Method 1: Choose a codec with higher audio compression ratio. This method is very effective, but will decrease audio quality apparently. In most case, MP3 is a decent audio format to store compressed audio data with good quality and small file size.
Method 2: Vary audio settings: If you want to keep the original audio format, you can change the audio settings after choose an output format from the list. Generally, the lower the bit rate is set, the smaller the file size will be. For example, an audio file with 128 kbps bit rate can save nearly 1 MB per 5 MB without any major decrease in quality after changing the bit rate to around 90 kbps.
So, depending on your demands, you can either select MP3 or other format, as well as change audio settings or not.
Step 3. Start to compress audio files on Mac
